Bazylika Mniejsza w Węgrowie pod wezwaniem Wniebowzięcia Najświętszej Maryi Panny, to monumentalne barokowe dzieło najwybitniejszych artystów tego okresu, zajmujące całą wschodnią stronę rynku. Wśród przypuszczalnych autorów świątyni wymienia się słynnego Tylmana van Gameren, Jana Reisnera i Carla Ceroniego. Barokowe wnętrza zdobi unikalny zespół malowideł ściennych pędzla Michała Anioła Palloniego, najsłynniejszego autora fresków w Polsce, które zachwycają niezwykłymi efektami iluzji przestrzennej. Innym znanym dziełem odznaczającym się ponadto niesamowitą aurą jest obraz „Taniec Śmierci” z XVII/XVIII wieku. Zawieszone w zakrystii bazyliki słynne na cały kraj Zwierciadło Twardowskiego, to metalowe, prostokątne lustro, które należało jakoby do słynnego magika.
The Minor Basilica in Węgrów, dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is a monumental Baroque work of the most outstanding artists of that period, occupying the entire eastern side of the square. Among the supposed authors of the temple are the famous Tylman van Gameren, Jan Reisner and Carl Ceroni. Baroque interiors are decorated with a unique set of wall paintings by Michelangelo Palloni, the most famous author of frescoes in Poland, which delight with unusual spatial illusion effects. Another famous work, which also has an amazing aura, is the painting "Dance of Death" from the 17th / 18th century. Suspended in the sacristy of the basilica, the famous Twardowski Mirror is a metal, rectangular mirror that supposedly belonged to a famous magician.
